Remember that kids put more attention on animation. They are more interested on having fun so it is best for a teacher to teach them write letters in a fun way. Teachers may have noticed that when children are just being told on what to do, they may not do it right out of lack of interest. Remember that with the so many worksheets available, choose one that is best suited for a certain lesson. Plan ahead what type of worksheet to use for a given day, depending on what you plan to teach.
Children are expected to have a basic understanding of numbers and their concepts because in kindergarten, math is quickly introduced. Kids quickly begin learning how to add and subtract. Those children who are not completely familiar with their numbers will find themselves lagging behind the rest of the class, causing them to have lower self-esteem. Problems with self-esteem have a way of carrying through the rest of a child has school career, making it difficult to get good grades and feel good about himself. Participating in arts and crafts is another great way to work on your child has motor skills. There are a variety of free kids learning games online that offer various worksheets that can be printed, as well as methods for children to work on their motor skills, including cutting and pasting, coloring, making masks and even basic origami. All these projects help children master their motor skills, while helping them think logically.Preschoolers love to learn and want to feel like they are ready to enter the world of kindergarten. Rather than sending your child into elementary school unprepared, you can allow him to play free kids learning games online to learn all the necessary basics to give him a head start and positive first school experience.
Try to supplement each worksheet with a real-life activity. For example after a worksheet on counting, you can ask the child to pick out 3 biscuits and 2 carrots from many. Remember, a child is learning many new things at once. A child of this age has an amazing capacity to learn many new things fast. He can also forget them equally fast. Doing many interesting worksheets with cartoons etc would be fun for him and would help continually reinforce what is learnt. Give positive feedback and encourage a child. His finer motor skills are just developing. Do not expect or try for perfection. Do not give any writing exercise too early i.e until he is fully comfortable with holding a pencil. Spend sufficient time and continually reinforce the learning in day-to-day situations. Most importantly, it should be fun for the teacher and the taught!
A lot of teachers I know use worksheets for different purposes and when used effectively, it can be a good filler or fulfill the purpose of what you want to teach. A good handout always supplements the lesson. You need to pre-teach material and information before it is to be processed via a handout. When these are given too much emphasis however, students can become demotivated by the learning process, which in turn, lowers their self-esteem. You obviously want to avoid this.
