You would probably agree that the first scramble is much easier to solve than the other two. One rule of thumb when making a good scramble is to never put the first letter of the answer word as the first letter of the scramble. Another suggestion is to break up common letter groups, such as ER and ING in the scramble. (However, go ahead and bypass these guidelines if you WANT to make the scrambles easy to solve.) 4) Type your scramble, add some clip art, and most importantly, PROOF the game before you give it to your guests. Few things are more embarrassing than "publishing" your game and then having guests find mistakes in the middle of the party!

At a young age, kids are first taught to write letters in print only. When kids reach the age of eight to ten, they are taught how to write in cursive. They may find this quite difficult and boring at first. But one fun way to teach them this is to use worksheets also. Worksheets are now being used in most schools as they are proven effective in fostering a children has learning process. In first grade it is essential that your child begin basic math facts. Most schools do a good job at starting basic math facts. This will be an impossible task if your child has not followed through on tip #5 above.

Try to supplement each worksheet with a real-life activity. For example after a worksheet on counting, you can ask the child to pick out 3 biscuits and 2 carrots from many. Remember, a child is learning many new things at once. A child of this age has an amazing capacity to learn many new things fast. He can also forget them equally fast. Doing many interesting worksheets with cartoons etc would be fun for him and would help continually reinforce what is learnt. Give positive feedback and encourage a child. His finer motor skills are just developing. Do not expect or try for perfection. Do not give any writing exercise too early i.e until he is fully comfortable with holding a pencil. Spend sufficient time and continually reinforce the learning in day-to-day situations. Most importantly, it should be fun for the teacher and the taught!

Everyone with little kids has paintings and worksheets on their refrigerator. How about planning a simple craft project with your child? Look for large plastic clips, preferably with magnets on the back, and using either a colorful permanent marker or a paint pen, write your child has name on the front of the clip.
